Its finally here. The iPhone that many have been waiting for. The iPhone 4 on Verizon Wireless. Read on for more details.


The new (old) iPhone 4 on Verizon doesn't have many changes, really just one change which is the antenna change inside going from GSM to CDMA inside. It's a 3G device only as Verizon didn't want ot make the changes needed on the first generation LTE chips to get it to work as they wanted to get it out to customers as soon as possible. Its under a multi-year non-exclusive deal which means that another CDMA version and show up on another network in the future which in the US the only other network that uses CDMA is Sprint.

Verizon promises that their network has been tested and will work smooth on their current network which I would believe that they can deliver on that promise being a Verizon customer for almost 7 years. The one drawback to having it work only on their current network and not the 3G network is that you can't make voice and data calls at the same time. This may be a drawback for some but I don't see that getting in the way of many people.

Pricing starts at $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model and both will support mobile hotspot functionality up to 5 devices. No talks on plans just yet. Feb. 3 is when existing customers can pre-order and Feb. 10 is when its open to everyone to get.
